About VeryQuickTools

VeryQuickTools is a growing collection of free, browser-based utilities — a file-type checker, a CSV cleaner, a text-difference viewer, a timezone-overlap finder, and more on the way. Each one does a single job, loads instantly, and gets out of your way. No sign-ups, no uploads to a server you don't trust, no wading through three paragraphs of filler to reach the box you actually came to use.

Who's behind it

My name is Pip Parker. I'm a sculptor who drifted, over a good many years, into computational art — these days I build systems that turn poetry into physical, 3D-printed sculpture. That work lives at the intersection of language, geometry, and code, and it means I spend my days moving data between formats, cleaning up messy files, comparing versions of things, and generally wrangling the small, fiddly stuff that sits between an idea and a finished object.

Before the art, I worked in graphic design and spent time at IBM, so the habit of wanting tools that are quick and honest goes back a long way.

Why I built it

Two reasons, and I'll be straight about both.

The first is selfish: I kept needing these little utilities for my own projects. Is this file actually what its extension claims? What changed between these two drafts? When does my afternoon overlap with someone six time zones away? I was reaching for the same handful of tools over and over.

The second is frustration. When you search for a simple online tool, you usually land on a page buried under ads, pop-ups, and a cookie wall, where the actual function is a tiny box surrounded by acres of padding. Half of them want your email. Some want you to upload a private file to who-knows-where. It's a genuinely unpleasant way to do a ten-second task.

So I started building my own — clean, fast, and doing the work right there in your browser wherever possible, so your data mostly never leaves your machine. VeryQuickTools is that collection, made public in case the tools are as useful to you as they've been to me.

How it's made

The site is deliberately lightweight: static pages, no bloat, and tools that run in your browser where they can. It's a solo project, built and maintained by me, and it grows as I find — or get asked for — the next useful thing. If a tool here saves you a bit of time or annoyance, that's the whole point.
